Bookkeepcon25 was a party! From cupcakes, to IRD raps, pass the parcel games, drinks, dancing, and a quiz. We even had the hilariously entertaining Jason Gunn. It was lovely to see those of you who came to visit the 2Shakes booth next to Xero.
Thank you to everyone who signed up for our Conference Special or entered our prize draw. We have donated $500 to Cholmondeley Children's Centre Charitable Trust and the SPCA, thanks to prize draw winners Melissa Sleeman and Stella Vockins.
We were also grateful to be able to award the well deserving Di Crawford-Errington the Services to Bookkeeping award. We would like to acknowledge all the award winners and nominees - well done to all!

Digital Identity Conference
2Shakes attended the annual Digital Identity Hui last month in Wellington.
DIA's digital identity app is coming | The DIA are aiming to launch a digital identity app by the end of this year for New Zealanders. It's early days, but it might be used for digital driver licenses or to tap on an Eftpos machine in a bar to prove your age. We'll keep tabs as this progresses and keep you updated. It might be a way in the future to help identify clients...
New Privacy Code for Biometric Digital Identity | The Privacy Commission presented their recently released Biometric Processing Privacy code. It has 13 rules that will become law in NZ from August 2026 if you already use Biometric Identity. Read our Biometric Identity and Privacy blog to see how 2Shakes meets the rules, and what you need to know to meet privacy law for your biometric Identity checks.
2Shakes Australia Launch
Australian Bookkeepers and Accountants have started signing up to 2Shakes as Early Adopters to see how we can help them engage clients, get BAS/Tax Agent Authority and do Biometric Identify Verification.
With everything we have learnt in NZ we are keen to help this sector when AML requirements impact the Australian accounting sector next year.
As part of our push into Australia, we have a stand at the Melbourne ICB Conference at the end of October, and will be presenting on Onboarding and AML!

Centrix Portal Users - Data retention
For those of you who use the Centrix portal you will have received an email about a their change to their data retention times. This means data related to Government Identity documents will be deleted after 30 days, and Smart ID data after 3 months. This change will not impact the data held in 2Shakes - only the data in the Centrix Portal.
If you are doing checks directly in the 2Shakes-Centrix portal, either make sure you download the results, or consider using Standalone Checks directly in 2Shakes. And if you have any questions, please contact us at support@2Shakes.co.nz.
